Back in October 2020, the UK immigration minister stood up in parliament to reassure campaigners concerned about EU citizens who weren’t aware they had to ask the Home Office to stay in the country after Brexit.

Давно хотелось поставить где-то на видном месте планшет-панель для Home Assistant — сценарии, термостат, камеры, всё в одном месте, без необходимости каждый раз доставать телефон. Готовые панели стоят как отдельный гаджет, а мысль «взять б/у планшет и допилить под себя» выглядела куда веселее.

Figures disclosed by 33 NHS trusts show temperatures on wards during July rose above 28C limit set by NHS England

Hospitals in England have recorded temperatures of almost 42C this summer, with surgeries being cancelled because operating theatres’ cooling units stopped working in the intense heat.

The Northern Care Alliance NHS foundation trust, which runs four hospitals in Greater Manchester, recorded a temperature of 41.8C during last month’s heatwave – 14C above the recommended safe maximum.

Some patients are also cancelling their own surgery because it is too hot for them to travel.

Hospitals and GP surgeries are offering frail elderly patients appointments at the start and end of the day, when it is less hot, to make it easier for them to attend.

Ambulance services are struggling to keep some medications at the right temperature because it gets so hot in the back of their vehicles.

When the cartoonist Art Spiegelman began dating his future wife, Françoise Mouly, in the mid 70s, she would tell him not to worry about walking her home, because even the New York muggers didn’t bother venturing to where she lived in Soho. He moved in with her quite suddenly not long after, when his apartment in Greenwich Village burned down. His landlord, who lived on the ground floor, was a hoarder – once, when he came to collect Spiegelman’s rent, a cockroach crawled up from under his shirt collar – and eventually his accumulated junk caught alight.

This feels like a quintessential New York story, but then much of Spiegelman’s life does, or at least fits with the kind of stories we like to tell ourselves about the city. The Soho apartment Spiegelman and Mouly have lived in for five decades is worth millions now and is surrounded by high-end designers; his studio, down the road, is above a branch of Tiffany’s. “It’s just kind of an embarrassment, I mean Tiffany’s is not my class,” says Spiegelman, who refers to these flash new arrivals, dismissively, as “very fancy airport mall stores”.

Изображение пропало, и он, конечно же, стал переподключать кабель. Итоги — на анонсном снимке. Короче, пришло время чинить девайс, тут уж пинцет не помог бы. Как вы понимаете, далеко не все прошло гладко. Что ж, поехали! 

Да, прежде чем уедем, еще небольшая предыстория. Дело в том, что у меня солидный опыт микропайки. Я перечинил десятки ноутбуков, менял BGA-чипы как на iPhone, так и в лэптопах. Реболлил процессоры Nintendo Switch разных моделей, ноутбуков и тех же телефонов. Но вот так сложилось, что с HDMI-коннекторами PS4 дела не имел, поэтому и не трогал до поры до времени. И оно наступило, это время. 

У девайса стали проявляться и другие проблемы. PS4 могла пискнуть и выкинуть диск. Или просто выключалась. Происходило это редко, но крайне метко — обычно посередине игровой сессии, так что ремонтировать было нужно и без HDMI. Не было бы счастья, да несчастье помогло…
