3 Republicans Break Ranks in Attempt to Limit Trump's Iran War Powers
The U.S. Senate narrowly rejected a largely symbolic effort to limit Trump's Iran war powers, marking the second time in two weeks that such a measure has failed to advance in the upper chamber.
The 49-50 vote on Thursday was mostly along party lines, but with some notable exceptions. As he has done previously, Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania voted with GOP lawmakers to sink the measure, while three Republican Senators broke ranks in an effort to curb the Trump Administration’s renewed military campaign.
Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Susan Collins of Maine voted in favor of the war powers resolution, as they have done before, on account of concerns over the lack of congressional oversight relating to the conflict which has now entered its sixth month.
Just last week, Paul told reporters on Capitol Hill that he believes the Iran war has left the U.S. “worse off” than before, citing the continued disruption of a vital trade passage.
“If you look at the militarization of the Strait of Hormuz… there’s not an easy way to un-militarize the Strait. From that point of view, I think we’re in worse shape,” he said.
Paul has long been a vocal critic of the U.S. military operation. In March, he stood alone as the only Republican to vote in support of a previous attempt to rein in Trump’s ability to use military force against Iran without congressional approval.
Murkowski changed her own position some months later in May, when she vowed to “support measures to officially end hostilities and bring our men and women home” moving forward.
Collins had opposed an earlier effort to pass a resolution of this kind, arguing it would “send the wrong message to Iran and to our troops.” But she has since changed her position, insisting "the President’s authority as Commander-in-Chief is not without limits."

Democrats, meanwhile, are continuing to bring forward war powers resolution votes in an effort to showcase, and have a record of, their ardent opposition to Trump carrying out the Iran war.
Last week, the House extended a symbolic rebuke to Trump by approving a resolution to curb the war with a 214 to 208 vote. In June, both the House of Representatives and the Senate passed War Powers Act resolutions aimed to restrict the President from continuing the war.
Trump referred to those votes as “meaningless” and has declined to abide by the resolutions.
“These Senators have just made my job more difficult, but I will get it done, one way or the other, because I always get it done,” he vowed in late June.

Outside of Congress, public sentiment in America is also showing unease over the conflict and its financial ramifications.
A nationwide AP-NORC poll, conducted between July 23 and July 27, found that 64% of Americans believe the war with Iran has not been worth fighting.
In an earlier poll from Reuters/Ipsos, which surveyed 1,262 American adults across the country over June 18 to 22, just 24% of Americans thought that the war with Iran was worth the costs.
On July 21, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was grilled by the Senate Appropriations Committee over the $37.5 billion cost of the Iran war.
The death of 18 American service members during the conflict has also prompted strong reactions, with lawmakers demanding an immediate end to the hostilities.
These simmering issues pose a threat to the Republicans ahead of the November midterm elections.

В одном из наших проектов бот записывает видеовстречи из Яндекс Телемоста, сохраняет их в WebM и передаёт на backend. После обработки запись становится доступна пользователю и воспроизводится через Video.js.
Заметили что при перемотке длинных файлов видеоплеер надолго задумывается. Браузер продолжает загружать данные, буфер визуально заполняется, но воспроизведение не начиналось.
Сначала мы исправили MIME-тип. Затем изменили настройки плеера. Потом ограничили ответы бека чанками по 50 МБ. Ничего из этого не помогло.
Настоящая причина находилась не на фронте и не на беке, а в самом WebM.

30 июля в Telegram-канале «Топор. Экономика» появилась новость о том, что московские налоговые инспекции начали массово рассылать письма неработающим гражданам, приобретающим дорогие автомобили, квартиры и яхты.
В сообщении утверждалось, что инспекторы требуют письменные пояснения и документы, подтверждающие происхождение денежных средств, использованных для покупки имущества. В качестве источника был указан РБК, а это далеко не желтая пресса, а вполне серьезное новостное издание.
В тот же день тему подхватил и Forbes. Материал вышел под заголовком «РБК узнал о запросах налоговиков к неработающим покупателям яхт и квартир». Затем новость стала распространяться и по другим СМИ и Telegram-каналам. И при каждом следующем пересказе формулировки становились все более определенными.

C 13 апреля по 10 мая был открыт приём заявок на стажировку Summ3r 0f h4ck 2026.
В этом году на обучающую программу в DSEC by Solar пытались попасть 225 человек – это в несколько раз больше, чем в предыдущие годы!
В качестве испытаний в отборочном этапе нужно было решить 10 задач по практической информационной безопасности и пройти интервью.
Спасибо всем, кто не только пользовался последними достижениями в области AI, но и активно работал над заданиями сам. Мы это очень ценим!

«В этом году мы подобрали задания с упором на поиск уязвимостей в веб приложениях, аудиту корпоративной инфраструктуры и поиск уязвимостей в мобильном приложении. В одном из заданий кандидаты расследовали инцидент по логам HTTP-трафика: необходимо было понять, как приложение было взломано, и что смог получить атакующий. Для решения заданий не хватит вузовской программы — нужно активно интересоваться практической ИБ, решать задачи с CTF или лабы по типу Hack The Box.»
На стажировку к нам попали 5 участников. Возможно, уже в скором времени они присоединятся к нашей команде.

The NSW Ombudsman on Friday published its report after an investigation in which it found Homes NSW acted unreasonably in how it handled the tenant’s contaminated belongings and “failed to provide full and accurate information to the insurer”.

В июне вышла версия 2.0, которую в начале июля представили на «Иннопроме». Название изменилось с «Стратегия AI-трансформации бизнеса: от кода к намерению» на «ИИ-нативная трансформация разработки ПО для зрелого корпоративного контура. Практическое руководство». Переименование точно передаёт суть обновлённого содержания.

Сейчас в России активно развивается программа найма стажёров (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) — студентов старших курсов — в ИТ‑компании. Знаю не понаслышке, что и стажёрам, и бизнесу очень сложно друг с другом: стажёр не понимает отраслевой привязки и специфики решений, а бизнесу некогда его учить. В этот момент человек понимает: я проучился пять‑шесть лет, причём не в последнем по качеству вузе, но в ИТ и ИИ всё настолько поменялось, что я к ним всё ещё не готов… Поэтому крайне мало студентов бесшовно проходят все эти испытания и вскоре становятся успешными сотрудниками.
Каждый раз, приходя в вуз с предложением о сотрудничестве, слышу одно и то же: «Наши выпускники умеют программировать, они знают математику, разбираются в алгоритмах. Но когда они приходят в компанию, им нужно ещё полгода, чтобы войти в рабочий ритм, вникнуть в отраслевую специфику». Дефицит отраслевых ИИ‑специалистов в России — это текущая реальность. Компании готовы нанимать, но не готовы ждать полгода адаптации, а вузы хотят соответствовать рынку, но не всегда знают, как.

In 1995, US film-maker Tamra Davis travelled to Australia to capture the one-off Summersault tour on her camcorder. Thirty years on she has made The Best Summer, an intimate snapshot of an era that can never be repeated
There are only a few shots in Tamra Davis’ documentary The Best Summer that were filmed this century. They’re the very first ones: shaky footage of a clattering box of videotapes being loaded hurriedly into a car boot as Davis evacuated her home in Malibu during the Palisades fires last year. Almost everything else in the film was in that box, forgotten for nearly three decades, a time capsule of a one-off tour of Australia and Asia featuring some of the most influential musicians of the 80s and 90s.
Summersault, pulled together by twentysomething promoter and future Modular Records founder Steve “Pav” Pavlovic, brought Sonic Youth, Pavement, the Beastie Boys, Bikini Kill, Beck and more to five Australian cities over new year’s 1995/96. It had started as Pav booking a Beasties tour that snowballed as the bands – many of them close friends – liked the sound of a break down under.

To mark Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday, a short film will premiere at this year’s Venice film festival. Entitled Flesh Impact, the film has been written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, and will star two versions of Monroe. The first, played by Ellen Burstyn, will apparently be “a version of Monroe the world never got to see”, while Dakota Johnson will play Monroe in her pomp.
Ahead of its premiere, a photo of Johnson dolled up as Monroe has been released. And it has to be said that the resemblance is actually pretty good. This could be down to one of two reasons. The first is that Monroe is so iconic that you could slap a wig and a beauty spot on Phil Mitchell and you’d immediately see who he was trying to emulate. Or it could be because Marilyn Monroe and Dakota Johnson are literally related.

Транзакционные письма — подтверждения регистрации, сброс пароля, чеки — кажутся простейшей задачей: подключил SMTP, вызвал send(), готово. Ровно до момента, когда письма начинают тихо улетать в спам Mail.ru и Яндекса, а ты не понимаешь почему: код не менялся, ошибок нет, письма «отправлены».
Дело почти никогда не в коде отправки. Дело в трёх DNS-записях, репутации IP-адреса и криптоподписи, которую надо собрать руками правильно.
Я строю свой сервис транзакционной почты и разобрал всю эту машинерию до винтика. В статье:
— DKIM своими руками: генерация ключа, каноникализация relaxed по RFC 6376, почему порядок подписываемых заголовков важен и где чаще всего ломается подпись; — три DNS-записи (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), которые решают всё, и что каждая делает; — прогрев IP: почему нельзя слать 50 тысяч писем с нового адреса, лестница лимитов 50 → 500 → 5000 → 50000 и пороги репутации; — suppression-лист и DMARC-отчёты как единственное зеркало вашего домена.
И кульминация — реальная грабля, на которой я обжёгся: две абсолютно правильные SPF-записи на одном домене, каждая валидна по отдельности, а вместе ломают доставляемость всего домена в ноль. Разбираю, почему так происходит и как чинится.
Честно про статус: сервис в открытой бете, движок построен, а реальную статистику доставляемости наберём на первых отправках — прогрев по определению требует недель живого трафика. Поэтому статья про архитектуру и грабли, а не про достигнутые проценты.
