‘Kevin carried the love of the game on his sleeve’
Sir Alex Ferguson has saluted Kevin Keegan for building Newcastle’s “greatest team”. Keegan, who had cancer, died on Monday at the age of 75 and Ferguson has joined the tributes for one of football’s most endearing characters.
Ferguson and Keegan were involved a fierce battle for Premier League supremacy, with Ferguson’s Manchester United pipping Newcastle to the title in 1996. “I had the utmost respect for him,” Ferguson told Track Radio. “We had many duels when he was manager of Newcastle, but the job he did at Newcastle was fantastic. He re-energised that club and he brought that enthusiasm and fanaticism great supporters can give.

Javier Tebas says system is ‘rotten at its core’
The Fifa president, Gianni Infantino, has come in for heavy criticism from his predecessor, Sepp Blatter, and the La Liga president, Javier Tebas, with the pair united in the belief that he should stand down.
As Spain celebrated their World Cup win on Sunday, Tebas accused Infantino of “destroying the football industry” by prioritising the World Cup over national competitions. He claimed “his time is up”. Blatter has called for “fans, players and national associations to reclaim football and bring it back to its roots under new leadership”.

Donald Trump’s administration sought phone records of several New York Times journalists and even those of some of their relatives, according to a motion unsealed Monday – an unusually aggressive attempt to unmask the confidential sources of reporters who wrote about the president’s Air Force One jet from Qatar.
The Trump administration’s push to compel the identity of sources in the form of additional subpoenas comes at a time when the executive branch’s relationship with the press is increasingly contentious. The efforts, described in a letter-motion filed by the Times over the weekend, were more expansive than previously known, the newspaper noted – and also covered a time frame that exceeded the news articles in question.

We could have a new leader here, Mattia Cattaneo (Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe) is on a heater. He’s gone through the 1km to go marker with a nine second advantage on Armirail. Can he hold it?
There are five points on offer in the polkadot race today for the rider that posts the quickest time up the Côte de Larringes. Pogacar is the current leader in the mountains classification but Valentin Paret-Peintre (Soudal-Quick-Step) is wearing the jersey (skinsuit today) because the race leader can’t wear both. The Frenchman will be emptying the tank up the climb, not worrying too much about his overall time, and hoping the GC leaders try to pace themselves a bit more evenly later on. Paret-Peintre has about 4km to go on the climb. One to keep an eye on.

You've probably saved plenty of things you'll never need again: old tax returns, the assembly instructions for a bookshelf you built a decade ago, screenshots of recipes you'll never cook.
But when it comes to evidence of what you've done well—whether that's accomplishing something meaningful, helping someone, or growing in ways that matter—most of us keep surprisingly little. Psychologists say that's a missed opportunity. And it’s why many recommend keeping what's known as a brag folder: a running record of wins, kind words, milestones, and moments of growth that you can revisit when your inner critic gets louder than your memory.
If the idea sounds self-indulgent, experts say it's actually the opposite. A brag folder isn't about inflating your ego so much as giving your brain a more accurate record of your life than it's likely to keep on its own. Here's how to build one you'll actually use—and when you should revisit it.
Cindra Kamphoff, a performance psychologist in Minneapolis, discovered the value of focusing on small wins when her father spent weeks in intensive care after heart surgery. Her family began writing down one "win" each day—sometimes as small as getting a pillow, other days celebrating a medical milestone—and posting the notes on a board in his hospital room. "I have to see something different," she remembers thinking. The "win wall," as she called it, helped her family focus on progress instead of just setbacks and “have more energy to tackle the hard things.” Nurses told them their room felt different from the others on the unit.
The same thing happens in everyday life, just with lower stakes. Most of us spend far more time thinking about what's left to do than taking stock of what we've already done. "It's easy to see how far you have to go instead of celebrating how far you've come," Kamphoff says. A brag folder gives you somewhere to look when your brain insists you've never done anything worth remembering. She thinks of it as a bank account for your self-esteem: Every win you log, however small, is a deposit to draw on the next time self-doubt creeps in. "We think confidence is built by chasing perfection," she says, "but it's really built by recognizing progress."
There's a reason to log a physical or digital record of these things. Atalie Abramovici, a therapist in Los Angeles, points out that our brains naturally scan for threats—a tendency psychologists call the negativity bias. When we're upset, the part of the brain that helps us retrieve evidence to the contrary is harder to access. A brag folder intentionally redirects your attention toward evidence your brain would otherwise overlook. Instead of trying to remember what you're capable of, you can simply look at it.
In a form of counseling called narrative therapy, Abramovici says, this is an established technique known as "unique outcomes." It involves deliberately taking stock of experiences that contradict the negative story you're currently telling yourself. "It's not to feed your ego," she says. "It's just to balance out your appraisal of yourself."
For many people, getting started is the hardest part. It's surprisingly difficult to decide what belongs in a brag folder without feeling like you're...well, bragging. Adebisi Gbadamosi, a therapist in Deltona, Fla., who works a lot with high-achieving adults, prefers a different approach. When looking back at accomplishments, rather than focusing on what you're proud of now, she suggests asking yourself what excited you them. Which project did you look forward to working on? What challenge did you genuinely enjoy? What kind of work would you jump at the chance to do again? "When you walk through it like that, you’re able to come up with way more accomplishments that you may not have seen as an accomplishment at first," she says.
Once you've identified one, write down four things: the accomplishment itself, why you're proud of it, the value it brought to someone else, and something you learned along the way. The structure does double duty—it gives you language when modesty might otherwise leave you speechless, and it transforms a simple list into a richer reminder of why the experience mattered.
Then collect the receipts, whether they're from your personal or professional life: the email that made your day, the photo from a milestone you worked hard to reach, the handwritten note you couldn't bring yourself to throw away, the text from a friend thanking you for showing up, the review that reminded you your work mattered. If it makes you pause, smile, and think, “I'd forgotten about that,” it probably belongs in your brag folder.
You’re not just creating a more visual resume. Harvind Singh, the CEO of a consulting engineering firm in Chicago, didn't start keeping a brag log until mid-career. When colleagues asked her to pull together a list of accomplishments for an award submission, she realized how much she'd overlooked. Years of committee work, board service, and industry leadership barely registered because they'd simply become part of her job. "Being humble doesn't mean you don't acknowledge what you've done," she says.
She now logs awards and client kudos, but her list also holds the things that come with no certificate at all—like being asked to join a board (even if she had to decline the invitation). Achievements outside of work belong there, too: training for a marathon, signing up for a solo trip, finishing a knitting project, writing a book that nobody published. "You still wrote it,” Singh says.
Don't overthink the format. Singh keeps an Excel file she calls her brag log, with tabs for career highlights, awards, client testimonials, speaking engagements, publications, and certifications. She's also a fountain pen person who writes anniversary notes to her employees in purple ink, and she'd tell you that a legal pad works fine. If you're more visual, you might prefer a bulletin board or vision board; others like a Google doc or use their iPhone Notes app. "Whether you write it in a book or you use an Excel file, it doesn't really make a difference," she says. Pick whatever you’re most comfortable with.
The bigger challenge is remembering to keep it updated. It's easy to feel motivated the day you create a brag folder, then forget it exists for the next six months. Singh recommends setting a recurring monthly reminder and asking yourself one simple question: “Is there anything I did this month that I want to add?” Without that prompt, "If you don't write it down, you're gonna forget," she says.
And if you're thinking you're years—or even decades—too late to start, you're not. The list fills faster than you'd think, and remembering older entries gets easier once there's somewhere to put them. Plus, it doesn't have to be perfect. "No one's going to grade this," Gbadamosi says. "No one has to see it.”
A brag folder only works if you actually open it. Experts say there are a handful of moments when it can be especially powerful.
The first is when self-doubt starts getting the upper hand. Dr. Linda Dolin, chief medical officer at the Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center in Fort Lauderdale, recommends revisiting your brag folder during a job loss, a breakup, a rough stretch at work, or any week when your confidence has taken a hit. Impostor syndrome thrives on vague feelings—"I'm not good enough," "I don't belong here." A brag folder gives you something concrete to push back with. Reading those reminders "anchors your self-worth," Dolin says, helping stop that spiral before it picks up speed.
It's also worth opening before moments that feel intimidating. Abramovici recommends reviewing it ahead of a job interview, a first date, or a conversation in which you'll need to advocate for yourself. The point isn't to psych yourself up with empty affirmations, she says. It's simply to remind yourself of what you already know. Over time, Abramovici says, "it's really building the relationship with yourself."
If the whole idea still feels a little self-congratulatory, Dolin offers a useful reframe. Most of us grew up hearing that bragging is bad, she says—but that's only true when you're bragging to other people. A brag folder is private, more like a diary than a public trophy case. As Dolin puts it: "No brag is too big or too small."
At the end of the day, that's what this kind of folder is really for: not to convince yourself you're extraordinary, but to remind yourself—on the days you've forgotten—that you've already done hard things and can do them again.
Gut health is everywhere right now. The hashtag #GutTok has over 6 billion views on TikTok, the global digestive health product market is worth over $60 billion, and viral trends that promise to “hack your gut” through miracle products, cleanses, and restrictive diets are all the rage. But what does gut health really mean, and what can science tell us about how to make sure our gut is in good shape?
The gut microbiome, a complex network of trillions of microorganisms living inside our digestive system, may hold the key to the mysteries of gut health. We have a symbiotic relationship with all of those little guys; we keep them well-fed and they produce substances that can benefit our body and brain. These microbes help regulate bodily functions, protect against disease, and recover from illnesses like cyclosporiasis, which is spreading right now across the US.
But with so many voices chiming in on gut health, pushing everything from probiotic foods and supplements to wellness shots and coffee enemas, it can be hard to tell what information is based on real research and what might just be a marketing gimmick or social media clickbait. Vox spoke to doctors and visited Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles to bust some gut health myths for science-backed advice.

Fast-moving wildfires have burned two First Nations communities in Canada to the ground, as members said they were left to self-evacuate without government help or emergency alerts.
Thirteen communities in Ontario province have been ordered to evacuate because of wildfires, most of them First Nations. The Ontario premier, Doug Ford, told reporters on Monday that close to 2,000 people had been evacuated so far to cities including Toronto and Niagara Falls.

For so many of us around the world, the final scenes of the World Cup were a chance to switch off the TV with an eye-roll and observe mildly: “Well, I think that’s quite enough America for us all for a while now.” And yet: there can and must always be more. It is simply the way of things. If you thought the World Cup being carried on to the pitch ahead of Sunday’s final in some kind of Louis Vuitton sex trunk was the nadir of hysterical trashiness in sport, then simply recall the lesson of the past few years and expand your mind. It can always get trashier.
To the parched fairways of Royal Birkdale, then, the host of this year’s Open Championship, which – yesssssss! – was won by someone other than Bryson DeChambeau or Scottie Scheffler or any of the other radioactively ghastly US golfers you’d cheerfully head-flush in a Mar-a-Lago loo just as long as you could clear the classified documents out of it first. It has now been revealed that, during his heated row over a two-shot penalty he was handed for improving the area for his backswing, DeChambeau has been accused of threatening to call the US president unless it was all resolved in his favour. To repeat: threatening to call Donald Trump.
