‘That’s the standard’: Mikel Arteta hails Arsenal’s desire on blue day for Maresca

  • Champions delight manager by ‘winning the first trophy’

  • Maresca wants Manchester City signings to arrive soon

Mikel Arteta said his Arsenal players demonstrated their hunger to defend the Premier League title in their Community Shield triumph over Manchester City. Arsenal, who ended their 22-year wait last season and are seeking to win back-to-back top-flight titles for the first time since 1934-35, beat City 3-0 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in Enzo Maresca’s first significant match in charge.

Riccardo Calafiori opened the scoring after 24 seconds, the fastest goal in the competition since Bobby Owen’s strike for City in 1968, before Kai Havertz doubled Arsenal’s lead and their captain, Martin Ødegaard, completed the scoring on 48 minutes. The 3-0 defeat represented the joint-heaviest loss for a City manager in their first game in charge, with Harry Newbould the most recent to suffer a three-goal opening defeat – 4-1, also to Arsenal, in 1906. It is also Maresca’s joint-heaviest defeat as a manager in England.

Seifert demolition job sets up Manchester Super Giants for maiden men’s Hundred title

  • Manchester Super Giants, 162-5 beat Trent Rockets, 158-8 by five wickets

  • Old Trafford-based side win men’s final at third attempt

A new name has done the trick. The Manchester Super Giants – once known as the Originals, now part of the tournament’s IPL-ification – triumphed in the final of the men’s Hundred, surviving a late wobble to beat Trent Rockets by five wickets. Tim Seifert set up victory with 72 off 38 balls; Liam Dawson completed it with two balls remaining, a six to seal it.

New Zealand’s Seifert turned Jos Buttler, his captain, into a support act in a chase of 159, his scarily high backlift producing seven sixes and a 23-ball half-century. The 31-year-old launched far higher than any of the Rockets, their innings defined by useful cameos. Noor Ahmad fizzed the ball down for the Super Giants, taking three for 33, but this was Seifert’s night as the Manchester side won the tournament for the first time after two previous runners-up finishes.

Hume says housing the ‘best indicator of economic security’ in retirement over super

The deputy Liberal leader, Jane Hume says the Coalition will reconsider whether Australians should be able to access more of their superannuation balance early after Pauline Hanson called on Sunday for super rules to be “lightened up a bit” and allow workers to their money in times of crisis.

It’s something that we will obviously consider as part of our normal processes, that’s not a policy that’s come to our shadow cabinet yet, but of course, it’s something that we would consider.

I do think that superannuation is highly valued by Australians, it’s not something that you need in your working life, it’s something you need in your retired life.

If you put the Productivity Commission report into any pub across Australia, people read it from cover to cover, [they] all say the system currently is unfair. We’re paying more for it than we were told it would cost. We’re using scarce income tax dollars to prop up a state that doesn’t need it.

This is a deal that doesn’t make any other state worse off, makes sure that there’s the right incentives to deliver productivity and economic growth. And also helps the federal budget bottom line by making sure that we can continue to deliver the royalties and the company tax in particular.

WA has a significant resources sector and we need the ability to be able to develop those resources because they lead to national economic growth but also are the national bottom line.

We have a pretty significant resource state here in New South Wales too, as does Queensland, as does South Australia. And if the logic that WA is arguing for is to apply across the board, then every other state that’s either developing those resources or looking to are entitled to the same benefit.

Однажды мне довелось выступать на конференции DevNexus, и в качестве примера я написал на Java приложение для обработки заказов. Приложение было исправным. Тесты проходили. Я прогнал нагрузочный тест, и на его основе собрал файл Java Flight Recording (JFR).
